Anambra Speaker mourns Prof Ben Nwabueze, says uncle was legal champion

The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly,Rt.Hon.Somtochukwu Udeze has described the death of a renowned constitutional lawyer and elder statesman, Professor Ben Nwabueze as a great loss to Ndi Atani,Ndi Ogbaru,Ndi Anambra,Ndi Igbo,Nigerians,the International Community and above all the National and International Legal Organs.
In his Tribute to the Late Professor Nwabueze,a devout Christian who died at the ripe age of 92, Rt.Hon.Udeze maintained that the constitutional lawyer made giant strides in education development in the country especially in the legal profession and also played sterling fatherly roles towards the peace and progress of his home state, Anambra.
The Speaker noted that the Late Professor Nwabueze did the state proud in many ways, adding that his tenure as Secretary/ Minister of Education and Youth Development benefitted Ndi Anambra immensely as he approved the siting of the Federal Government College at Nise in Anambra State among other accomplishments.
He recalled the glorious tenure of the Late Prof.Nwabueze as the Secretary-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide,where he said, the Late Icon distinguished himself with quality leadership.
Rt.Hon.Udeze enjoined other notable Nigerians and Anambra citizens to emulate the Late Professor Nwabueze’s selflessness, humility and love for Anambra State and Nigeria at large by contributing their quota to the service of God and humanity.
The Speaker called on the federal government to name an important Federal Institution/Organ after the Late Prof.Nwabueze as a mark of respect and recognition for his contributions to the growth and development of the Nigerian Nation.
He prayed God to grant the soul of the Late Prof.Nwabueze eternal rest and give his family members and many other relatives,friends and well-wishers the fortitude to bear this great loss.
