A governorship Aspirant of Labour Party in Anambra State, Mr John Nwosu has denied rumours that he plans to step down for another aspirant in the primary election of the party which comes up in April.
Nwosu in a press release he made available to journalists on Friday said the rumour is totally untrue and an orchestration by his opponent to demarket him.
He insisted the rumour was a ploy to deceive his teeming supporters. He described himself as a party man who has strong stake in Labour Party, and will not concede to aspirants who have not shown any interest in promoting the party.
Part of the release read: “It has come to my attention that assertions are being made by some Anambra governorship aspirants and in some quarters about supposed meetings and consultations aimed at some Labour Party aspirants stepping down for another.
“Such ploy is also incomprehensible and a crass approach to convince our party officials that people who have worked the least to promote Labour Party in Anambra State and indeed, market themselves to would-be delegates for the governorship primary election deserve a second look or any consideration for nomination by our great party.
“For the record, I, John Chuma Nwosu, an aspirant for the governorship of Anambra State under the Labour Party, is in the race to win the primary election and go on to win the governorship election on November 8th, 2025. That is my mission.
“I wish to place it on record that I will not be distracted by those who wish to use subliminal propaganda or media ploys as a means of gaining any undue advantage over the most visible and hardworking aspirant at the grassroots.
“To those who think they can heist the governorship ticket by other means; I can only say, let’s meet on the field. No more needs be said at this time.”
Though Nwosu failed to name the aspirant, THE RAZOR recalls that during a press conference in his house in Nnewi in December, an aspirant of the party, Mr George Moghalu had said that there are chances that he will meet with Nwosu, so that both of them being Nnewi indigenes can harmonize their interest and project a common front.
