Labour Party governorship aspirant, John Nwosu, has strongly condemned the brutality meted out to Anambra residents by revenue agents of the Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo.

In statement issued on Monday night, Nwosu said, “I am deeply concerned by this video of supposedly Anambra State Government internal revenue agents brutalizing Anambra indigenes in the name of IGR collection,”

He noted that similar incidents had occurred between ANSG Waste Management and ANSG Anti-Touting Agents and innocent citizens.

Nwosu emphasized that regardless of any alleged crimes or violations, such brutality is never justified.

“Whatever be the case, any crime or violation, and even if the individuals were suspected cultists, drug peddlars, bandits or kidnappers, does not warrant such egregious cruelty, torture and uncivilised reprisal,” he stated.

He asserted that the Anambra State Government is liable for these acts of brutality, which do not represent civility,
humaneness, or good governance.

Nwosu demanded that such conduct must cease immediately.

This is not the first time Nwosu has spoken out against Governor Soludo’s administration.

He had previously criticized the government’s handling of security and governance issues in Anambra State.
