Hon Edozie Madu former Anambra governorship aspirant of All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2021 and Political stalwart from Owerre-Ezukala, Orumba South LGA, Anambra State, recalls attack on his country home 2 years ago.
It was a day of fright on the eve of the 2023 Presidential election when the attack happened.
The political leader was in his community to mobilize support for his candidate in the area when the attack came.
Masquerading as unknown gunmen, they attacked the country home of Hon Edozie Madu in Owerre-Ezukala in an attempt to murder him and others that accompanied him on that fateful trip to his village.
When he managed to escape due to the bravery of security operatives in his company, the criminals killed one of the security men attached to him, burnt down his mansion, his cars and destroyed other things they could lay hands on.
For these two years, the ‘unknown gunmen’ have been in full control of Owerre-Ezukala, they determine who dies and who lives.
They even settle land disputes and enforce rules in that community. This is the stark reality of the Anambra of today.
Madu reminiscing on this said it is clear that this security situation is not peculiar to Owerre-Ezukala, other communities around Umunze, Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Nnewi North are currently under siege by these Monsters.
The current onslaught against criminals in the state by Prof Chukwuma Soludo is however a welcome development, though the result is still far from desirable.
He said: “As we reminisce on the fatal event of 24th February 2023 Anambrarians are proposing a radical action to clean the Augean stable, one that will see Anambra return to its pride of place.”
