Recall that the former spokesperson of PDP, who was very vibrant in his days as mouthpiece of the opposition party, had been arrested, tried and detained, before he was granted bail. He also suffered ill health during the period.

During his speech, Metuh who advised the younger generation said he has through his life dealings learnt that God is ultimate, and that no matter how one struggled, “what would be, would be”.

He said: “I’m grateful to God for coming this far, and I’m also grateful for the opportunity of being alive. I have been through great ordeals in my life, but God has shown me mercy.

“These days, when people ask me to advise young people, I just say to them, take life easier because what will be, will be.”

Metuh who held a two day event also embarked on heavy philanthropy to underscore his vow to commit half of his assets to helping the needy.

Some of the ventures undertaken by him include; endowment of hundreds of millions of Naira for various philanthropic gestures including clearance of the medical bills of indebted patients at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, care-funds to old people who are 75 years old and above as well as cash gifts and other essential items to widows and the physically challenged persons in Nnewi.

Metuh also put smiles on the faces of the people as he donated bags of rice and other food items. He distributed economic empowerment items including grinding machines, sewing machines, vulcanizing pumping machines, generator sets and hairdressing equipment worth millions of Naira in addition to cash grants to petty traders, artisans and skilled persons in Nnewi and its environs.

He had previously visited the Old Priests’ home at the Blessed Iwene Tansi Priest Center where he donated various food items and cash gift to take care of their medications, and the Nnewi Correctional Center where he equally donated food items and other essential supplies to the inmates.

Metuh also announced a scholarship programme for inmates to the University levels while paying off the fines for those held for minor offense, and commissioned a water project which he constructed at the Center while promising to build a world-class skill acquisition center in the Facility, immediately he received the necessary approval.
