A political support group rooting for the reelection of President Bola Tinubu, Obidient General Worldwide Team has held a sensitization campaign for voters in Benin City, Edo State.
The group led by Hon. Ikenna Azomchine during the programme urged voters not to be deterred by tales of possible violence, but to register and be eligible to make the critical decision of who would govern the country.
The group cautioned youths and other eligible voters that participation in voting is the fulcrum of political awareness, and that they need to obtain their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVC) to be able to participate in the critical decision that would happen next year.
Allaying fears of violence, the coordinator of the group, Ikenna Azomchine told participants that the group started early in the mobilization of members across Nigeria, so as to ensure massive sensitization against violence during the process.
“We have been all across the country preaching peace and encouraging young people to get their voters’ cards. One thing I can assure you is that we have members all across every polling unit, and we have engaged them on the need for peace.
“One thing I can assure is that President Bola Tinubu will get a fresh four years next year. One thing made Obidient Movement thick then. You know we were in the opposition, but one thing that worked for us was that we had the network, which helped us to reach the artisans, the ordinary Nigerians and the huge population of people and that is the same strategy we are using today to work for President Bola Tinubu.
“Our mandate is to ensure that we sensitize our people on the need to vote President Bola Tinubu and also to protect his mandate from theft through our teeming youths in the entire polling units in the country.
“Once we have done this and the president is reelected, our next mandate is to ensure that we protect the interest of the Nigerian youths who worked for the election of the president. What I can assure you is that once the president is reelected, we will continue to ensure that the interest of our members is protected.”
Azomchine was the coordinator of the same movement that worked for the election of Labour Party presidential candidate in 2021, Mr Peter Obi. He recently switched support to Tinubu after what he described as the leadership strategy of the president which was yielding fruits, through various reforms.
