Anambra State has taken a significant lead in the South-East region in recognising and advocating for the deployment of competent and experienced senior police officers to provide strategic leadership in the security management of the State.
This renewed emphasis on professional and capable police leadership is underscored by the assumption of duty of CP Nnanna Oji Ama, psc, mnips, as the 36th Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command.
The new Commissioner of Police brings to the Command extensive professional experience, strategic policing knowledge and a clear commitment to intelligence-led policing, operational effectiveness, accountability, community partnership and the protection of lives and property.
His assumption of duty has further demonstrated the importance of having competent senior police leadership at the State Command level, particularly in a region where emerging security challenges require effective coordination, sound intelligence, operational discipline and strong engagement with critical stakeholders.
Since assuming office, CP Nnanna Oji Ama has commenced engagements with traditional rulers, political stakeholders, community leaders, security agencies and other critical stakeholders across the three senatorial districts of the State. These engagements are aimed at strengthening community-based policing, improving intelligence gathering and building a more effective security architecture for Anambra State.
The Command notes that the success of policing in the South-East depends not only on the deployment of personnel and operational assets, but also on the quality, competence and strategic orientation of those entrusted with leadership responsibilities.
Anambra State therefore remains committed to promoting a policing model anchored on professionalism, intelligence-led operations, technology deployment, accountability, respect for human rights, inter-agency collaboration and meaningful partnership with the people.
The Command, under the leadership of CP Nnanna Oji Ama, assures the people of Anambra State and the entire South-East region of its determination to consolidate existing security gains, confront violent crime and other criminal activities, and create a safer environment for residents, businesses and visitors.
