The Anambra State Government has directed all mass transit and transport companies operating within and outside the state to submit comprehensive lists of vehicles operating under their brands, as part of its ongoing digitalisation of the transportation sector.
The directive, contained in a letter signed by the Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Edward Ibuzo, and dated July 23, 2026, requires transport operators to submit details of vehicles in their fleets to the Ministry of Transport.
The ministry said the exercise was in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration’s policy of “everything technology and technology everywhere,” adding that the full digitisation and digitalisation of the state’s transportation sector commenced on June 6, 2026.
The directive covers companies engaged in both intra-state and inter-state transport operations.
The ministry, however, clarified that the required list was not restricted to vehicles directly owned by the transport companies.
According to the directive, loan or leased vehicles, hire vehicles and other franchised vehicles must also be included where such vehicles operate under the name, logo or brand of the transport company.
The government directed the affected companies to use a template provided by the ministry to submit the required information.
The submitted vehicle lists, the ministry further stated, would be subjected to verification by officials of the Ministry of Transport.
The directive was addressed to all mass transit and transport companies, indicating the government’s intention to establish a comprehensive and verifiable database of vehicles operating under transport companies in the state.
The ministry provided an electronic channel for submission through its designated email address, in addition to physical submission at the Ministry of Transport, Block C, Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.
The development comes as the Soludo administration continues to expand the use of digital systems in the management of the state’s transportation sector, with the latest exercise potentially providing government with clearer data on operators, vehicles and their various modes of operation.
