The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze, has called for stronger cooperation between Anambra State and the Federal Government, citing the potential development benefits of such a partnership.
Udeze made the call while congratulating Governor Chukwuma Soludo on his appointment by President Bola Tinubu as the Anambra State coordinator of the president’s 2027 re-election campaign.
In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant and Chief Press Secretary, Rev. Emma Madu, the Speaker said the decision by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to work with the All Progressives Congress (APC) was in the interest of the people and the overall development of the country.
He described the collaboration as a partnership between progressive political parties aimed at advancing the welfare of Nigerians.
Udeze also commended the APGA National Working Committee for congratulating Soludo, the party’s national leader, on his appointment. He equally praised Tinubu for considering the Anambra governor worthy of the role.
The Speaker further lauded Soludo for promoting cooperation between the state and the Federal Government, citing several federal appointments and infrastructure projects as evidence of the benefits of such engagement.
These, he said, included the appointment of Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Dr Mark Okoye as Managing Director of the South-East Development Commission.
He also listed the ongoing reconstruction of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, the rehabilitation of the First Niger Bridge and the award of contracts for the Aguleri-Lokoja and Nnewi-Uga-Arondizuogu-Okigwe roads among the federal government’s interventions with implications for Anambra and the wider South-East.
Udeze urged well-meaning citizens, particularly APGA members in Anambra State, to support Soludo in his new role to enable him to discharge his responsibilities effectively.
