Comrade Kennedy Iyere, a social crusader, peace activist and Convener of Civil Society Committee for Anambra Election Security (CISCAES), has stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the judicial arm of government should not destroy the good gubernatorial ambition of the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Mr. Valentine Chineto Ozigbo.
Iyere said that Valentine Ozigbo has the administrative acumen as well as the capabilities to replicate his transformational leadership skills in Anambra to grow the economy and create jobs for the people just as he did at Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja and other places he has held leadership positions.
Although he pointed out that Val Ozigbo will have a healthy competition with the APGA candidate but quickly noted that Ozigbo will overcome the ongoing crisis in the PDP, over his candidacy, because he believes that the judiciary knows the truth that Val Ozigbo is the authentic candidate of the PDP but it seems to be sitting on the fence. He affirmed that the “primary”, conducted by the Chris Uba-led faction of the PDP, did not have the backing of the National Working Committee of the PDP, which means it was an illegal exercise. There is therefore no basis for its validation. According to him, Val Ozigbo remains the only authentic candidate of the PDP for the Anambra 2021 Guber-Poll. The eyes of the Nigerian Civil Society and International Community, are on both the Judicairy and INEC, who are expected to stand for the truth by upholding the victory of Valentine Ozigbo, as the true winner and authentic candidate of the PDP in the forthcoming Anambra Guber-Poll.
He said if the judiciary attempts to play a fast game on Val Ozigbo, it will be a colossal setback for democracy in Nigeria. He further stressed that such an unpatriotic move, will doubtless attract a widespread revolt by the civil society, as part of the efforts to save Nigeria’s democracy. He said Val Ozigbo has got what it takes to make Anambra state the envy of other regions of the world.
Iyere explained that Val Ozigbo has built an enviable career for himself such that he performed superlatively in every sector he headed. He said Val Ozigbo headed and face-lifted the Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (TRANSCORP PLC), describing him further, as someone who has the capacity to build bridges of peace across the southeast and also one who can take South-East to the North, the South-West and the South-South.
Though he said he was not exonorating the PDP from the legal battle currently faced by Val Ozigbo, he blamed the PDP leadership for allowing Chris Uba to remain in the party, stating that the Party Leaders in PDP, ought to have removed Chris Uba, long before the primary election, just the same way Adams Oshiomhole was removed by the APC Leaders in Edo State. He also categorically stated that only Val Ozigbo can guarantee victory for the Peoples Democratic Party, in the forthcoming Anambra 2021 guber-poll.
Iyere said the judiciary should know that if they destroy the country through fake verdicts and compromised judgements, the consequences will befall them and their descendants, adding that the judiciary, is being widely expected, to do the needful and honourable thing, at this point in time, by defending and upholding, the victory of Val Ozigbo, thus thwarting a grand design to remove Val Ozigbo from the race, by some enemies of democracy. He said that the judiciary should not be used, as a means of unleashing mayhem on the Candidates of the PDP and APGA, who stand out, as the only viable contenders in the Anambra 2021 guber race.
According to him, the judiciary should not act funny with Anambra election and if allowed, it will destroy the chances of the PDP and APGA. It then means, APC will produce the next governor and that will spell doom for not only Anambra but the entire south-east states, saying that INEC, the judiciary and the general public know the truth.
He said Ozigbo not just have the capacity to deliver good governance but also to make peace and promote Stability within the south-east region.
