A female lawyer, Adachukwu Chikelu-Okafor, who allegedly inserted hot knife into the private part of her 10-year-old house girl, has been detained.
Anambra State Government confirmed her detention to journalists on Monday.
Adachukwu, who allegedly boasted while manhandling the child that she was a lawyer, went into hiding when public outcry trailed her action.
But on Monday, the State’s Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, confirmed the runaway lawyer’s detention in an interview with newsmen in Awka.
She said the Onitsha-based lawyer surrendered herself to the police few days after a bounty of N2 milion was placed on her .
Obinabo said the suspect would be arraigned before the Children, Sexual and Gender Based Violence Magistrate court in Awka this week.
The Commissioner, who recently visited the victim( name withheld) in the hospital, confirmed that she had been successfully treated and discharged, thanking God for her quick recovery.
Recall that Lawyer Okafor, was also accused of using hot iron to burn parts of the buttocks of the girl in Akpaka, Onitsha, where they resided.
As was seen in a viral video, the girl had varying degrees of injuries occasioned by the lawyer’s brutality on her.
The Federal Government had placed a bounty of N2m on her during her hiding,while the wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo declared a manhunt for her.
