Politics
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has said that it is not intimidated by the membership of the national campaign council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the party’s governorship candidate, Andy Uba in Anambra State.
The spokesperson of the APGA campaign council, and commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C.Don Adinuba reacted, while receiving the newly elected executive of the Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra council, led by Chief Chuks Ilozue.
Adinuba said: “We are not surprised that the APC inaugurated its campaign council for Anambra State yesterday with all those names.
“Anambra people know what they want, and they have chosen APGA, and all those people they are inaugurating as members are not relevant.”
Adinuba said Anambra people are happy with the level APGA has taken the state, adding that no Anambra indigene would wish for Anambra to drop to the level of the states governed by APC government.
“Would you like Anambra to degenerate to the level of Imo State? Would you be ready to forfeit the level of security and freedom you have in Anambra to what is happening in Imo State? Of course, the answer is no.
“Irrespective of who they include in their campaign council, I want to tell you that it was the same thing they did four years ago, yet Anambra people in the 21 local government areas voted Obiano overwhelmingly.”
The APC had in on Tuesday in Abuja inaugurated its campaign council for the election of Senator Andy Uba in Anambra State. The long list of members included governors, senators, both past and present, including other prominent politicians around the country.
The chairman of Correspondents’ Chapel in Anambra, Chief Ilozue had earlier commended the commissioner for being steadfast in his duty, and also advised him on better ways of handling matters concerning journalists.
Ilozue, a senior Correspondent with Daily Independent Newspaper is also a veteran that has practices in several states across the country.
