APGA: Paul Okoye floors 2 ex-lawmakers, Chiekwu, TonyOneweek, four others to clinch Idemili North Assembly ticket

Engr. Okoye Paul Chidubem, the current President General of Ideani community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State has won the ticket of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to contest for the House of Assembly in the 2027 general election.

Okoye defeated two former lawmakers, Hon Ifeanyi Arthur Chiekwu and Hon Tony Muonagor popularly known as Tony Oneweek and four other contestants.

In the primary election of the APGA held on Saturday through option A4, Okoye scored 4,974 votes in what has been described as a landslide victory. He floored six of his challengers.

His challengers and the votes scored are as follows: Arthur Ifeanyi Chiekwu scored 1,336, Emmanuel Idemili scored 2,550,
Tony Muonagor scored 2,168,
Idemobi Onyekachukwu scored 1120, Chibuezem Onochie scored 1930, while
Stanley Uzoegwu scored 137.

The returning officer for the election, Chief Jeremiah Chukwuneke declared Okoye the winner of the election.

He said: “I Chukwuneke Jeremiah, the returning officer for the Idemili North State Constituency primary election hereby declare Okoye Paul Chidubem as the winner of the primary election held on 23rd of May 2026 within the state constituency, having scored the highest number of vote in the election.”

Okoye will in February next year fly the flag of the APGA against candidates of other political parties in the state assembly election.

Some of those at the election venue spoke highly of him, saying his victory was based on previous track records, and would be favoured for Victory in the main election against his opponents.
