Biafra agitators freed in Makurdi, Onitsha …as jubilation erupts

Two members of Chief Raph Uwazuruike’s Biafra’s Independence movement , BIM and Movement for actualuzation of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB have been released from detention by security operatives in Makurdi and Onitsha respectively

The two members of the group Uchenna Okeke and Ikechukwu Ajah were said to have been branded as members of Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB and arrested by the security operatives in different locations .

While Okeke was said to have been arrested by the Military in Makurdi in May and detained for two months, Ajah, was arrested in Onitsha and detained in Awka for over four months

In a statement Sunday by Elder Chris Mocha, Personal Assistant to Uwazuruike on Media Matters and made available to THE RAZOR NEWS, said, the celebration of the group had been on since weekend when they were released

He said the members held a meeting at Ojukwu Memorial library, the Biafra seat of power, New Owerri , where Uwazuruike told them not to be violent in their agitation for Biafra

The BIM-MASSOB’ members described Uwazuruike as Messiah and the true hero of the Igbo resistant movement.

Mocha, said the leadership of BIM-MASSOB had last month ,appealed to the Military in Makurdi to effect Okeke’s release since according to the group, the detained member was of good behavior and an innocent member of a peaceful organization that pursues its objective through a non-violent process.

He said at the weekend, the soldiers who arrested him released him , leading to celebration in Onitsha, Owerri, lagos and Lafia garage in Makurdi for days now.

“Also , in Onitsha, Anambra state , Mr. Ikechukwu Ajah was freed after being detained for over four months and 10 days in the custody of Anambra state-criminal investigation department (StateCID), Awka.

“Ajah was arrested since March 21, this year on similar allegations of belonging to IPOB, the allegations all of them denied

” When the news was broken to us in Onitsha , members who received the cheerful news of their releases and safe return either sent their message of congratulations on Group WhatSAAP and other social media platforms or through phone calls or text messages to confirm their freedom”.

He urged his followers to always remain calm no matter the level of provocations from security agencies , as the Movement was a non-violent group in it’s agitation for Biafra .

“Non – violence is the greatest weapon for the achievement of the Self-Determination for Biafra”
