Don’t give Valentine’s day a negative meaning- Bishop Ezeokafor

The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor says any love outside Christ is lust.

Speaking on a telephone interview ahead of Saint Valentine’s Day which will be celebrated tomorrow across the globe, Most Reverend Ezeokafor charged the people to always know the origin and significance of what they are celebrating describing Saint Valentine as a priest who devoted his life to various families and cautioned the people against giving the day a negative interpretation.

Most Reverend Ezeokafor charged the people to show true love to others in addition to remembering those in need with a view to giving them a helping hand.

He cautioned the people against engaging in what he described as love which has an error, adding that they should always engage in agape love by helping the people without seeking anything in return.

Most Reverend Ezeokafor while condemning the get rich quick syndrome amongst the youths charged parents to always lay a solid Christian foundation for their children in order to secure a bright future for them.

The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese who described youths as future leaders called on government at different levels to create more employment opportunities for them to divert their minds from crime and other societal ills.

He charged the people to always obey the commandments of God.
