History Beckons Now Anambra Guber Election Has a Date (II): Soludo, Don’t Stop Work

Opinion

By Tony Okafor

With the Anambra State Governorship Election date now confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to transforming the state remains vital.

His administration’s initiatives, such as the Amawbia/Agulu/Ekwulobia/Uga road and Awka and Ekwulobia flyover projects, when completed will have significant impact on the state.

As the 2025 Anambra State governorship election draws near, there is a possibility that Governor Chukwuma Soludo might strategically halt or slow down ongoing projects to win public sympathy and support for his potential re-election bid.

This tactic could be employed to create a sense of urgency and incomplete projects that would require his return to office to finish.

However, this tactic, often employed by politicians, is no longer effective due to increasing political awareness. Soludo should not fall to this temptation.

Instead,Governor Soludo should draw inspiration from former Governor Peter Obi’s unwavering commitment to serving Anambra State, even in his final days in office. .

Given Soludo’s ambitious plans for the state, including infrastructure development and economic empowerment, it is crucial that he maintains momentum and avoids politicizing these initiatives .

By persevering and delivering results, Soludo will demonstrate his dedication to Anambra’s prosperity and cement his legacy.

The INEC election announcement should motivate, not hinder, Soludo’s administration’s progress.

Despite concerns about Governor Soludo’s leadership style, including heavy taxation, elitism, and perceived disregard for traditional institutions, it is vital that his administration stays focused on advancing Anambra State’s progress and development.

Addressing these issues will strengthen his legacy and demonstrate his ability to listen and adapt.

As Anambra moves forward, Soludo’s resolve will determine his place in the state’s history.

Failure to deliver on his promises may result in a single term, as predicted by some.

The people of Anambra eagerly await continued transformation, and Soludo has the opportunity to solidify his position as a champion of progress.

Ultimately, Soludo’s success will be measured by his ability to leave a lasting legacy, transcending election cycles and political maneuvering.
