Hoodlums behead ex-Anambra lawmaker, a cripple

A former member of Anambra State House of Assembly, Nelson Achukwu( a cripple) has been killed by beheading by hoodlums in Ukpo, in the Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The deceased, a lawyer was reportedly kidnapped from his home in Ukpor on June 9, 2022.

The incident came less than one month after the lawmaker representing Aguata constitutuency 2, Governor Soludo’s constituency, at the state Assembly, Okechukwu Okoye, was beheaded in similar circumstances.

New National Star gathered that the headless body of Achukwu was found by his relatives about two weeks after his abduction between the boundary of Uke and Ukpor.

A family source who pleaded not to be named said the deceased was quickly buried by the family on June 21, 2022, as his body was already decomposing.

The source said,”We couldn’t believe he would be killed after they paid the N15m ransom requested by his abductors, despite his physically challenged condition.”

The state Police Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident to our correspondent, saying investigation was ongoing to ensure culprits were arrested and prosecuted.

The PPRO said, “The victim was abducted at about 10:15pm in his house on 9th of June and efforts were been made to rescue him before this unfortunate development. His body was found between the boundary of Uke and Ukpor.We are still not relenting on our investigation as we will ensure that the culprits will face the law.”
