Soludo gives hope to couple charged N19m over birth to septuplets

The Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has given hope to a couple,Mr and Mrs Celestine Uzodike in the state who gave birth to septuplets ( seven babies).

The couple who lost one of the babies were reportedly charged N19m by the hospital.

In a statement by Christian Aburime,the press secretary to the Anambra State Governor, made available to our correspondent on Wednesday, Soludo had asked the couple not to despair, stressing that government would come to their assistance.

Aburime’s statement read in part, “Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has reassured the couple blessed with sextuplet, Mr and Mrs Celestine Uzodike from Omogho, Orumba North Local Government Area in Anambra State of government massive assistance. The sextuplet were delivered on January 8, 2023.

“This has expressly debunked social media reports alleging that the State Government has “abandoned” the couple.

“Report about the incident was received in the office of the Governor by close of work on Friday last week and Governor Soludo has given assurances of the State Government’s commitment to providing massive assistance to the couple.The Governor has since sent warm congratulations to the couple.”

Mrs Uzodike Ngozi in the Department of Business Administration, Nnamdi Azikiwe University( UNIZIK) Awka Anambra State, was been delivered of a set of seven twins (Septuplets)- two boys and five girls last week.

Mrs Uzodike who was delivered of the septuplets at Obijackson Women and Children Hospital Okija was full of tears both that of joy and sorrow as she complained of having not been paid salary since she was employed in the Department of Business Administration of UNIZIK in December 2020.

The husband, Mr Celestine Uzodike, had complained that his wife despite being properly engaged as a lecturer had never earned a kobo as salary, regretting that even after she had been promoted from Assistant lecturer to Lecturer II, they hadn’t find it feat to pay her salaries.

The family who was billed N19m by the Hospital, appealed to the Federal Government to pay the two years salary arrears owed to the wife and also come to their aide as they would be able to foot the hospital bills and take care of the surviving Two boys and four girls, as one of the girls did not make it..
