UNIZIK appoints Anambra Correspondents’ Chapel member, Aloysius Attah, Director of Public Relations

The Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has approved key appointments, including that of Mr Aloysius Emeka Attah as Director of Information and Public Relations.
The decisions were ratified at the Council’s 21st Emergency Meeting held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the university’s Council Chambers, following what officials described as a rigorous, merit-based selection process.
The appointees are Prof. Jacintha Ukamaka Eze as University Librarian; Dr Jane Ezeonu, Director of Medical Services; Engr. Obinna Ibe, Director of Works Services; Akuma Paschal I., Director of Procurement; Engr. Lawrence Ezeokafor, Director of Physical Planning; Mr Collins Obi, Chief Safety Officer; and Mr Aloysius Emeka Attah, Director of Information and Public Relations.
All appointments take effect from April 17, 2026, and are for a single tenure of five years.
Presenting the appointment letters, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Monsur Olugbenga Kukoyi, charged the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them through diligence, integrity and dedicated service.
He urged them to uphold the university’s core values and serve as worthy ambassadors of the institution.
Kukoyi also commended the Visitor to the university, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, for their efforts toward revitalising the education sector and promoting research, funding and institutional advancement.
Speaking on behalf of the appointees, Attah thanked the Governing Council, the Vice-Chancellor and members of the selection panel for what he described as a transparent and merit-driven exercise devoid of sectional or ethnic bias.
He pledged that the new officers would not only meet but exceed expectations in repositioning the university as a globally respected centre of learning.
The appointment letters were signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dr Chinenye Gloria Okeke.
The university said the appointments are expected to strengthen its administrative structure and enhance service delivery in line with its mandate and vision
