A chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chinedu Obigwe, has slammed Valentine Ozigbo, a governorship aspirant of the Labour Party (LP), for criticizing the Anambra State government’s security programme, codenamed: Operation Udo Ga-Achi.
Ozigbo had described the programme as “ill-timed,” but Obigwe countered that the criticism exposes Ozigbo as an “enemy of progress.”
Obigwe in a statement on Monday argued that Ozigbo’s statement was a desperate attempt to politicize the good works of Governor Soludo’s administration, which has made significant strides in tackling insecurity in the state.
He noted that the security agents had made several arrests of criminals in the state recently.
Obigwe also disputed Ozigbo’s claim that insecurity in Anambra State is worse under Soludo’s administration than in previous administrations.
Obigwe accused Ozigbo of suffering from an “it must be me at all cost mentality disease,” which prevents him from acknowledging the good work of Governor Soludo’s administration.
He pointed out that under a certain administration, bank robbery was a daily routine, and 46 corpses were discovered floating on Ezzu river, but Ozigbo has chosen to ignore these facts.
In response to Ozigbo’s attempt to portray Governor Soludo as someone who does not listen to advice, Obigwe argued that Soludo is a listening leader who takes advice that benefits the people.
He noted that the security situation in Anambra has improved under Soludo’s administration, with the unknown gunmen losing many of their territories and being reduced to hit-and-run criminals.
Obigwe urged sane minds to ignore Ozigbo’s criticism, describing it as an exercise in futility.
He reiterated that Governor Soludo’s administration is committed to tackling insecurity and improving the lives of Anambra citizens.
