The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed that Anambra State has the highest number of suspects under investigation for involvement in malpractices during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
According to the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, 14 individuals were arrested in Anambra across 13 cases of impersonation and one case of photo mismatch.
Lagos State followed closely with nine suspects involved in cases of impersonation, espionage, and possession of mobile phones.
Other states with notable arrests include Delta, Kano, Kaduna, Rivers, Ebonyi, and Enugu.
The JAMB Registrar also revealed new methods of exam fraud detected during the registration and examination processes, including identity and biometric fraud, double registration, and attempts by candidates to substitute themselves during the exam.
In a peculiar case, a blind candidate was found to have hired another blind man, an undergraduate, to impersonate him during the UTME.
The UTME results for 2025 were released on Friday, with over 1.5 million candidates scoring below 200, the average benchmark for success.
The examination is scored on a total of 400 marks, testing candidates across four core subjects.
