The political landscape of Anambra State quaked with excitement on Thursday as Ozo Jeff Nweke, fondly introduced as “the Nigga”, officially declared his intention to contest the November 8, 2025 governorship election under the Action Alliance (AA).
The grand event, held at Marble Arch Hotel, Awka, drew an electrified crowd of supporters, political allies, traditional rulers, youth groups, and members of non-indigenous communities residing in the state.
The atmosphere reached a fever pitch when the master of ceremonies, while reading Nweke’s biography, introduced him with the bold tag, “the Nigga,” sparking applause and chants from a fired-up audience.
Speakers from across the political and ethnic spectrum showered praises on Nweke. Representatives of the Yoruba and Hausa communities in Anambra State described him as “a man of the people” and pledged their full support, citing his inclusive leadership style and unwavering support for grassroots development.
A youth leader declared that over 5,000 youths had benefitted from Nweke’s scholarship initiatives and empowerment schemes over the past few years.
“He’s not just a politician; he’s our hope, our helper. We’ve seen what he can do—he deserves our votes,” the leader said.
Women leaders from Awka and surrounding areas, who turned out in large numbers, also pledged their support, applauding Nweke for his efforts in enhancing security, especially in the Awka metropolis.
“We can now sleep with both eyes closed,” one of them stated.
Residents of Enugwu-Agidi, a neighbouring town, joined in the chorus of commendation, crediting Nweke for restoring peace in lingering land disputes that once threatened the stability of the community.
Nweke, a respected indigene of Awka and community leader, used his declaration speech to reaffirm his commitment to peace, development, and inclusive governance. “This is not just a campaign,” he said. “This is a movement for dignity, progress, and the rebirth of our dear Anambra.”
With overwhelming grassroots endorsement and growing cross-ethnic backing, Ozo Jeff Nweke, alias the Nigga, has clearly hit the streets running—and the city is already shaking in anticipation
