The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife has written off a possible victory of the Labour Party ( LP) and its presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, in the 2023 generall elections.
Ekwunife said this in a meeting while hosting PDP stakeholders at the Ekwunife Event Centre in Awka, the Anambra State.
Though, the stakeholders cautioned her in the event to shun talking bad about Obi and LP in her campaigns to avoid a backlash, Ekwunife insisted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remained a formidable political party and focused in Anambra Central Senatorial District, in Anambra state and in Nigeria at large.
She said the PDP remained a party to beat in the next general elections, noting that her antecedents and track record placed her above the candidates of other political parties.
Ekwunife restated her commitment to bringing further development to the Senatorial District.
According to her, the upcoming election would afford her the opportunity to consolidate on her achievements in the Senate.
In his remarks, the former state Chairman of the party, Hon Ndubuisi Nwobu urged party men and women to remain steadfast and work assiduously for the overall victory of the candidates of the party in the next election.
On his part, a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Charles Odedo eulogized Senator Ekwunife for her giant strides in governance, saying that the Senator has been a performer from their days in the House of reps. Odedo narrated how Ekwunife defended the interest of the entire members of House of Representatives while serving as their caucus leader.
In their separate remarks, a member of the PDP Board of trustees, High Chief Maxwell Akudo and former Chairman of Njikoka LGA, Chief Cosmas Agagbo described Ekwunife as a representative who puts the interest of the people first. They urged the people of the Senatorial District to stick with Ekwunife.
The PDP Candidate for Awka North and South federal constituency, Hon Emeka Igwe used the opportunity to appreciate Senator Ekwunife for ensuring that the ward delegates congress and primary elections in the Senatorial District were free and fair. He lauded her for being an empathetic leader.
Also present at the meeting were, former deputy governor of Anambra State, HE Chief Abolle Okoyeagu, former PDP Vice Chairman Anambra Central, Dr C.C Okeke, Deputy Minority Leader of the state house of assembly, Hon Ebele Ejiofor, PDP Leader in Anaocha LGA, Chief Felix Oli, former Majority of the House of Assembly, Hon Joseph Dimobi, former member of the House of Assembly, Hon Chuba Oranusi, Chairman of Senator Uche Ekwunife Campaign Organization, Ichie Edwin Ubboh, local government Chairmen of the party from the seven LGAs in the Senatorial District, Women Leaders and executives of the party at the various political ward in Anambra Central Senatorial District.
