Nnewi rerun: YPP candidate receives certificate of return, praises Ifeanyi Ubah

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented a certificate of return to the winner of the rerun election held last two weekends to elect a House of Representatives member for Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Ekwusigo Federal Constituency.

Hon Peter Uzokwe, a candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) had beaten his All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), counterpart, Hon Uche Elodimuo in the election.

While receiving the certificate at INEC headquarters in Abuja, Us thanks his constituents for voting for him, while praising the senator representing Anambra South senatorial zone, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.

He described him as the pillar that stood beside him all through the election and resisted attempts by other interested parties to steal his victory.

He said: “I’m very happy today, and I want to thank my leader, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, the lion himself.

“He stood by me all through the election, until I was declared winner of the election. This was despite efforts by the ruling party in Anambra, APGA attempting to thwart my victory, but he stood by me.”

Ubah had while briefing journalists after the election alleged that some top government officials had been mobilized to Nnewi to deliver the election to APGA candidate, but the people resisted them and voted for YPP.

Ubah was until recently, the national leader of YPP, before he decamped to All Progressives Congress (APC), but has maintained a solid base in both parties.
