Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Dr Victor Ike Oye,says,his journey in life has been a tortuous one.
Oye, spoke Saturday at Saint Matthew’s Catholic Church Amawbia, Awka South local government area of Anambra state, during the celebration of his 70th birthday
The church was filled to the brim with APGA faithful dominating,including members of the National Working Committee,NWC through out the country
Friends were not left out, including no fewer than 30 Catholic Priests and his Amawbia community members and their newly installed traditional ruler.
Anambra state House of Assembly members, former local government transition Chairmen and business moguls, were all in attendance
Oye, who turned 70 on Friday,who turned, while addressing the congregation, disclosed that the age he attained now did not come easy, describing his life’s journey as tortouse.
He said he had faced many battles in his life before getting to this level, adding that the most difficult for him was being the national chairman of APGA for eight years, stating that majority of the people never believed he would survive the battles.
“I fought many battles in APGA for eight years without anyone believing I would survive. My 70 years on earth have been tortouse,it has not been easy.
” I have seen a lot of things in life especially in APGA and I do not wish even my worst enemy to go through such experience” Oye revealed.
In his Homily during the church service, entitled : Life of faith, Mission and Service,the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi, Most Rev Jonas Benson, said Oye made a lot of things possible in the church
“He never knew the day he was presented to the temple, but today,he knows he is celebrating 70th birthday.
There are many reasons why we should celebrate him.
“Chief Dr Victor Oye, made a lot of things possible in Catholic Church, Amawbia and others in this state through his contacts, determination and sacrifice.
“We want to thank you,we want to celebrate you for things you have done for the church and humanity.
He puts God first in every thing he does. You have left legacies .You made many things possible in this state” the Bishop said
