Obi bags chieftaincy title, urged to gun for president
Out-going govenor of Anambra State, Peter Obi yesterday bagged his first chieftaincy title, ushering him into the large crowd of titled men in Anambra State. The chieftaincy title, Okwute, which means the rock was conferred on Chief Obi by all the 177 traditional rulers in Anambra State. The chairman of the Anambra State traditional rulers council, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe while introducing Obi for the conferment of the title said it took the council time to convince Obi to accept the title as he preferred to be known simply as Mister. Achebe said it took the council to assure Obi that all the traditional ruler were going to finance the conferment for him to accept it. He also explained that the conferment was a reward to the good job the governor has done in Anambra State, he said the award was to celebrate eight year of peace and love in Anambra State under the leadership of Peter Obi, and also to pray for another peaceful eight years under governor Willie Obiano. Meanwhile, the council of traditional; ruler in Anambra have called on Chief Peter Obi to consider giving the presidency a shot. Achebe who spoke on behalf of the traditional rulers also said that the prayers of the monarchs on Obi is that he will accept the challenge of vying for president after Jonathan to use his acumen to develop and move the country forward. Visiting Monarch, the Ata of Igala land who spoke glowingly of Obi also said that he is sure that Obi has a long way to go, and that his good work will not end in Anambra State as he prays that Obi will move to the national level. The chieftaincy installment witnessed a large attendance from sons and daughter of Anambra, and was also made more colorful cultural display from various communities in Anambra State.
