Sir Paul Chukwuma, the frontline All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant for the 2025 Anambra gubernatorial elections has felicitated people of Enugwu-Ukwu community in Njikoka local government area of Anambra State, as they celebrated the 2024 Ọnwa Asatọ Festival over the weekend.
In a statement signed by Mr James Eze, spokesman of his gubernatorial primaries campaign council, Sir Chukwuma said he is excited that Enugwu-Ukwu and some of the other communities in Anambra state have continued to uphold the tradition of celebrating new yam in their various communities.
He praised the traditional ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Sir Ralph Obumnaeme Ekpeh, members of Igwe’s cabinet, members of Nze na Ozo societies, Otu Iyom members and Enugwu-Ukwu community in general for sustaining the tradition.
“I commend His Royal Majesty, Igwe Sir Ralph Obumnaeme Ekpeh, Eze Enugwu-Ukwu, and Igwe Umunri for ensuring that every year this important aspect of Igbo culture is celebrated. Indeed Ndigbo have a proud cultural heritage which should not only be sustained but be promoted as part of cultural tourism. I wish members of the Enugwu-Ukwu community a wonderful 2024 Ọnwa Asatọ Festival”, Sir Paul Chukwuma said.
