Peter Obi’s legacy: CKC shatters WASSCE records, 110 students score 9 straight distinctions

In a remarkable achievement, Christ the King College (CKC) Onitsha has recorded an outstanding performance in the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
An impressive 110 out of 131 candidates scored distinction in all 9 subjects, with 126 candidates achieving A1, B, and C grades.
This exceptional result is a testament to the college’s commitment to holistic human formation and academic excellence.
A source in the school attributed the success to the hard work of the management, staff, and students.
He said “We are thrilled with the performance of our students, which reflects the dedication and expertise of our teachers and the supportive environment we provide.
“The achievement is also a vindication of former Governor Peter Obi’s vision for education, which led to the return of schools to their original mission owners.
“This move has yielded positive results, as evident in CKC’s outstanding performance.”
An old boy of the school who simply gave his name as Tony quipping, “Primus…Inter pares! (First amongst equals).
What a stunning result! The return of schools to the Missionaries that set them up by Gov. Peter Obi definitely helped to improve the quality of education in those schools.

Obi’s initiative aimed to revitalize the education sector by leveraging the strengths of mission schools, known for their academic rigour and values-based education.

The college’s aggregate score is excellent, with 127 out of 131 candidates scoring A1 in Mathematics and 79 and 90 candidates making A1 in Physics and Chemistry, respectively.
