News

Officials of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s Awka Capital Territory Development Agency ACTDA, have again in two days, seized all the Newspapers from the vendors, saying, they don’t want to see anything that belongs to President Bola Tinubu again in Anambra.

According to one of the touts, “let us see who owns Anambra whether it is Tinubu or Soludo. Any of the Newspapers we see in Anambra, we will destroy it” the huge official told the vendors at Aroma.

“You people had the guts to report our activities online, let’s see who owns the land ”

On Thursday, they beat up the vendors, destroyed all the Newspapers and smashed all the PoS machines belonging to the vendors, including their tables and umbrellas.

The Newspapers they seized around 10am friday, are The Nation, The SUN, Punch, Thisday, Vanguard, Guardian among others.

The officials of ACTDA maintained that the state government does not want any Newspaper to be sold again on the streets.

The destruction of people’s goods, especially, the petty traders, had forced the masses to continue to rein curses on the administration of Soludo

The Razor, learnt friday that the thugs being used to enforce the ‘keep Anambra clean ‘ are the ones being prepared for 2025 governorship élection in the state

It was equally gathered that the vendors in the state were summoned friday by the Department of State Service DSS

And at the time of filing this report, they were still at the DSS office at Amawbia, near Awka

It was further gathered that the summon by the DSS was to look for a way forward on the problem between the vendors and the agency

The Razor , overheard one of the ACTDA officials saying on Thursday, “our Governor is behind what we are doing, if they like, let them report to Tinubu, nothing will happen”

The destruction had not been against the vendors alone, but to every petty trader along all the streets in Anambra state as part of government’s ‘keep Anambra clean project’

However, one of the government officials who spoke with The Razor said, “what they are doing is good. It is to make Anambra look good. But what the people are complaining is the crude way the enforcers are going about it.

“They don’t have to burn the wares of people who want to make little money to feed their families, destroy bananas of petty traders, smash PoS of people among others “
