Harvest Time In Anambra: Why Soludo And Ibezim Deserve Another Term

Opinion

By Chioma Nwamah-Ahamefula

As the saying goes, “To everything there is a season.” There is a time to plant and a time to harvest. In Anambra State today, it is the season of democratic harvest a time when Ndi Anambra will once again decide the future of our beloved state. It is the moment to choose how we want our state to look, how we want our towns to grow, and what kind of leadership we desire to shape our tomorrow.

This election is not just about politics. It is about progress, vision, and continuity. The power to decide whether Anambra continues on the path of development or takes a backwards turn lies squarely in the hands of the people.

*APGA: A Legacy of the People, by the People*

Since its rise in 2006, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has stood as the political identity and pride of Ndi Anambra. The cock its enduring symbol, represents vigilance, resilience, and the spirit of Ndi Igbo. Handed down by the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu,(Eze Igbo Gburugburu) APGA was envisioned as the platform that would safeguard the collective interest of the Igbo nation and give the Southeast a true voice in Nigeria’s political space.

From 2006 now APGA has remained the backbone of Anambra’s political stability and developmental excellence. This legacy of good governance has made the party’s slogan, “Nke a bu nke anyi” (“This is our own”), a living reality.

*The Soludo/Ibezim Administration: A Mandate for Transformation*

Since assuming office in 2022, Governor Soludo and Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim have redefined governance with their “Soludo Solution” agenda ,a holistic plan built on five pillars:

1. Security, Law, and Order

2. Economic Transformation and Job Creation

3. Social Agenda for Youths, Women, and the Vulnerable

4. Governance, Rule of Law, and Justice

5. Environment, Clean and Green Initiative

Under this framework, the administration has recorded measurable achievements across all sectors:

*Security and Peace*: Soludo’s bold campaign against criminality has restored safety in communities once plagued by insecurity, especially in Ihiala, Lilu, Iseke, Orsumoghu, and parts other parts of the state. His community policing and “Homeland Security” -(operation Udo ga achi, Agunechemba, Aka odo) initiatives have ensured peace returns to the grassroots. Soludo’s impact on security is undeniably visible recall the discovering of that over 30 graveyards uncovered by his security team led by his Deputy Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim at oba in a falsely posed hotel along Onitsha owerri road and with the state homeland security laws the hotel was demolished like wise others returning peace and hope of living in these areas.

*Infrastructure and Urban Renewal*: Over 1000 kilometres of roads are currently under construction or completed across the 21 LGAs from Awka to Ekwulobia, Orumba to Nnewi, Okpoko to Onitsha Urban renewal projects have transformed cities with modern drainage, street lighting, and smart road networks.

*Education and Healthcare*: The government has recruited thousands of teachers and healthcare workers, upgraded schools to smart schools, given free education to all students and revitalised hospitals with ease of antenatal and delivery which are free in the state. Soludo’s administration also engaged ndi Anambra youths on free IT training via the solution innovation tagged 1 million Anambra digital tribe and has introduced the One Youth, Two Skills initiative, empowering about 20 thousands of young people with both training, re institutionalizing the igbo ideology – aka aja aja na ebute onu mmanu mmanu with the introduction of the “igba boyi” master apprentice scheme and giving startup grants thereafter.

*Economic Empowerment*: Through industrial clusters and MSME support programs, Soludo is driving local production and job creation, ensuring Anambra’s economy grows from within.

*Environmental Sustainability*: The “Clean, Green, and Liveable Anambra” initiative is tackling flooding, promoting tree planting, and ensuring waste management reforms that are already yielding results.

*Promises Made, Promises Kept*

From the bustling streets of Awka to the serene communities of Ihiala and Okpoko, the story is the same; hope restored, progress visible, and confidence renewed. Soludo’s governance has brought transparency, fiscal discipline, and people-oriented policies that directly touch lives.

As many Ndi Anambra now say, “This government has a human face.” It listens, it acts, and it delivers.

*Why Continuity Matters*

Anambra stands today at a crucial junction. The progress witnessed in just over three years is a foundation — not a finish line. Governor Soludo’s vision of a prosperous, livable, and smart Anambra megacity is unfolding. But such a transformation cannot be completed in a single term.

To abandon the “ Solution Government ” halfway is to interrupt a renaissance in motion. The next four years represent the harvest time — when the seeds of reform sown today will blossom into lasting prosperity.

*The Verdict*

The people of Anambra have tasted the difference. APGA remains the people’s party — the homegrown platform that reflects the values of peace, progress, and inclusivity.

As election day approaches, Ndi Anambra must rise again to defend this legacy — to vote for competence, integrity, and continuity.

Let us stand together and say with one voice:
“Nkea bu nke anyi meaning This is our own!”
Let’s return Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo and Dr OnyekaChukwu Ibezim for a second term to complete the transformation they have begun.
