A former National Auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC),Sir Paul Chukwuma, has said that if the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah, or any other person emerges the candidate of the party in next year’s Governorship Election in Anambra State, he would fully support him.

He said the most important issue now is to connect Anambra State to the centre for the development of the state and not who is the candidate of the APC in the 2025 election, stressing the need for unity within the party to be able to fix the state.

He said for 18 years, the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State
had taken the state backward because it is isolated from the government at the centre.

Ubah had recently indicated interest to contest for the 2025 governorship poll in the state, stating that he had sufficient experience and capacity to win the election for his party if given the opportunity.

Ubah said,” Our great state, has reached a point where business accumen and strategic leadership must be brought to the table to radically transform her current position to a formidable economic power house for the benefit of the greater number of her hardworking citizens in particular, and the Nigerian nation at large.

Chukwuma, who spoke with some journalists in his Umueri country home
went down memory lane to analyze the reasons for the party’s previous election losses in Anambra State from 2013 to 2021.

According to him, the absence of a free, fair and credible primary always led to the division in the party before any gubernatorial election and urged leaders of APC to do everything possible to unify the party and also ensure free and credible primaries.

He urged the party to open its doors to new members as the party would need all the support to take over the Anambra government house in 2026.

At the meeting, Chukwuma told journalists of his desire to contest the Anambra gubernatorial election in 2025.

He stated that the party would need an intellectual candidate who coukd appeal to the elite, grassroots, entrepreneurs and the academia, adding that he possessed these qualities sufficiently.
