Awka ROBAN STORES under attack over alleged bad frozen chicken

News

By Our correspondent

When buying products, customers expect quality all the time. However, this is not the case in most stores.

An Awka based journalist, who wants to be simply identified as Jude, had an ugly experience at ROBAN STORE when he bought frozen Chicken from the department Store some days back.

This made him to take up the matter in the court of public opinion(his Facebook page) to narrate his experience.

Jude writes: “Who’s scamming Roban Store, Awka with these chickens? I raised an alarm earlier today about my sad experience at Roban Store Awka. I wanted to sort it out with them first but the attitude of the lady I first called left much to be desired as she hung up on me while I was trying to explain myself to her.

“The fact is this: I bought frozen chicken there and it turned out to be the worst chicken I ever ate. It was so brittle, so soft, that it was clear it wasn’t even up to one month old. We just couldn’t eat it.

“One of the personnel there I eventually got on the phone told me he had also experienced that and had stopped buying chicken there.

“He told me they got supplies from different people and that one of them must have supplied underage chicken.
Now, this is wicked of such a supplier.

“I’m posting this so that if it eventually gets to the supplier he/she should know we’ve cottoned on to their evil action.
How can anyone be supplying chicken that’s barely a month old? Because they’re wrapped there’s no way those at Roban can know until they eat it.

“The action of the supplier is wicked. This is why I generally avoid chicken outside and go for turkey but it happened that Roban doesn’t sell turkey (they should start doing so now to avoid a repeat of what I experienced). What we eat should not be toyed with as we’re not oyibo that eat underage chicks.

“A pity I wasted my money to buy that “.

REACTIONS TRAILED JUDE’S POST

Lucious Onuorah said, “I think I will blame Roban store for making such a mistake.
“A big store like Roban should properly scrutinize those supplying them chicken. Standard must be demanded.”

Victor Ifediora agreed with Onuorah.
He said, “No matter how one looks at this, the buck stops at Roban’s desk.
I’m not the one to do Quality Control checks for them, neither am I the one who should do due diligence on their suppliers.
“They are complicit in this.
I do equally feel you( Jude) should escalate this matter so it serves as deterrent to any who plans toeing the same line”

For his part, Charles Ikeme, said: “Stop buying frozen chicken from departmental stores. It’s better to buy direct from any friend who raises chickens for sale.

Ejiofor Obiorah, blamed Jude for blaming the supplier of the chicken instead of ROBAN STORE.

Obiora said, “Instead of blaming Roban Stores that sold the chicken you( Jude) are blaming the supplier.”

Speaking a business management expert in a tertiary institution in Awka, who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “Lacking a proper quality control process affects a company’s output and puts the consumer at risk.

“If your products and services are of poor quality, you’ll spend more time and money reworking them, which eats into your profits in the long run.

“In addition, your customers won’t be satisfied with your products and will stop doing business with you. As word spreads about your products and services, your reputation will be affected.

“This is why quality control procedures are a crucial function in any organization. Implementing a standardized process in your operations is the only way your company will deliver consistent and quality products and services to your customers.”
