Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has sacked the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Chikodi Anara, barely six months after sacking his Information counterpart, Paul Nwosu, for alleged incompetence.
A Government House source revealed that Soludo could no longer tolerate the growing insecurity under Anara’s watch.
The source added that Prince Ken Emeakayi’s appointment as Special Adviser on Community Security rendered Anara’s position redundant, given Emeakayi’s successes in securing the state.
“Technically, Anara was sacked the moment Prince Ken Emeakayi was appointed Special Adviser on Community Security,” the source said.
“Ken Ameakayi is working silently and has recorded huge success in their operations so far. So, there was no need to keep another person for the same role,” the source said.
However, another source claimed that Anara resigned during the last state executive council meeting.
According to this source, Governor Soludo prefers to give officials a “soft landing” by allowing them to resign rather than being openly sacked.
The actual reason for Anara’s departure, according to another source, was his failure to secure Anambra State from criminals despite available state funds.
“This led to the establishment of the State Agunaechemba team, which has shown success against unscrupulous elements in the state, ”
In recent efforts to secure Anambra State, Governor Soludo launched the Udo Ga-achi security outfit and signed the Anambra 2025 Homeland Security Law.
This law has helped rid the state of criminals and evil native doctors, promoting a safer environment for residents
