The school’s alumni association is aiming to raise $2.5 million for the school endowment, any time, soon.
DMGS Onitsha, founded in 1925, is the oldest grammar school in Igboland and one of the oldest secondary schools in the region.
In November 2025, the school will mark its 100th anniversary, and the alumni association is sparing no effort to make the event unforgettable.
They are mobilizing former students and their acquaintances to raise $2.5 million before the alumni celebration.
The purpose of the endowment fund is to provide a long-term solution to the school’s financial challenges. With these funds, the school will be self-sustainable without external support.
Remarkably, within a short period, they have managed to raise approximately $500,000, and there is a prospect of reaching the target before the 100th anniversary.

When achieved in 2025, DMGS l will stand as Nigeria’s most well-endowed secondary school.
