There is strong indication that the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Dr Uche Ekwunife, may join the All Progressives Congress ( APC), ahead of the 2025 governorship election in Anambra State.
Ekwunife, who is currently in the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP), had “jumped” political parties for about five times since the return of democracy in Nigeria in 1999.
She began with PDP, later joined PPA, APGA,APC and now PDP.
She had eyed the governorship of Anambra State about two times in her political career. She had also been in the National Assembly for about five times as House of Representatives member for Dunukofia/Njikoka/Anaocha and Senator for Anambra Central Senatorial District.
Meanwhile, mixed reactions have trailed her recent rumoured move to join APC.
AIF Media in a recent post said, “Ikemba where are you? Is Iyom about defecting to APC?”.
“She was seen today in Imo state where she joined APC leaders from Anambra state in a courtesy visit to Hope Uzodimma.
“In the picture below is Hon Ifeanyi Ibezi, Iyom Ekwunife, Amb Elijah Onyeagba , Paul Chukwuma, Hon Ralph Okeke and the gov-elect of Benue state, Rev Fr Alia.
I will advice Iyom to join labour party and not APC.”
Another commentator described her move as a wise one. He said,”She is smart. Very smart.”.
