An aspirant for the position of House of Representatives for Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo federal constituency, on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Vin Onyeka has alleged that former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spokesman, Chief Olisa Metuh was intimidating party members.

Onyeka said Metuh who recently  joined APC was using the name of the governor of Imo State and South East leader of APC, Governor Hope Uzodinma to bully party members, claiming he was working under instructions.

The politician who was addressing his supporters in his compound at the weekend accused Olisa Metuh of beating up a national officer of the party, Hon Dozie Ikedife, and also extending the same treatment to him when he tried to stop him.

The incident came in Friday during the rescheduled primary election of the party which was later held on Saturday. He alleged that the problem started when he, Onyeka refused to step down for another lady being supported by Metuh.

He said to his supporters: “We were supposed to hold election today but we moved it to Saturday and I want to say that no matter the level of postponement, I will still win because I’m popular and loved.

“In Nnewi, we have a culture of not fighting because of politics, but that tradition was destroyed yesterday by Olisa Metuh. He beat up Dozie Ikedife and when I went to intervene, he also beat me up.

“Metuh was beating me not minding my size, he doesn’t know that if I fight back he would die. He was bragging to us that he was among the owners of Nigeria. He assaulted me, he assaulted a national officer just because he said he is a director of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“I want to tell him that that intimidation will not work with me. We have destroyed that tradition of peaceful politics, so whatever he sees, he should take.

“He brought out a woman and wants me to step down and I said I will not and he is now intimidating me. He told everyone that whatever he is doing is with the blessing of Governor Hope and I’m sure that is lie. He is using the name to intimidate us.”

The visibly angry Onyeka insisted that Metuh remains a convict, having been convicted over N400million, and that such a person can not dictate to them.

He said he entered APC to be rehabilitated after his conviction, but he is mistaken because they will not be intimidated by him.

As at the time of filing this report, no response had been issued against this by Chief Metuh. When THE RAZOR reached out to him, his line was not reachable.
